Spring in Sternwheeler Park

In La Center, there is a fantastic park commemorating a time when the Lewis River came through town bringing with it supplies and commodities by boat. The main river doesn't run through the town any longer except for a small channel. The park houses an amphitheater filled with amazing sculptures and a walking path that curves around the water and through the adjoining wetland. There is much that I love about the park, but my absolute favorite is going down in the springtime when things are turning green and blooming again. Yesterday afternoon was nice so we took the opportunity to get down there for the first time of the season and we weren't disappointed. The park rendered much to enjoy.... hope you enjoy it too.

Lotion Bars are here!

Image
Recently, I took a trip to Las Vegas with my mom to attend the Glass Craft and Bead Expo. While the whole show was a sensory overload of good stuff for any creative person, one gentleman was offering solid lotion bars and we quickly fell in love. I had never heard of them before but after trying one, I was hooked. Once home, I set out to find a recipe and that I love and here it is!!! If you haven't tried a lotion bar, you are missing out. A solid bar that warms in your palm as you hold it to apply just the right amount of lotion and fragrance with no goopy mess. Then you can pop it back in it's tin and take it anywhere. Great for your nightstand, your desk, even your purse. They also make fantastic birthday, wedding, and baby shower gifts! Perfect for all those hands, knees, heels and other places that need moisturizing. My lotion bars are made with all natural ingredients including shea butter, coconut oil, sweet almond oil, vitamin E, beeswax and various essential o...

New year, new adventures, new news!!

Image
Happy New Year! New years always bring new perspectives and here in cre8iveland it's no different. Whether you call them resolutions or goals, I've always been one to write out how I hope my year will transpire and what I hope to say I have accomplished at the end of the next 12 months. This year is no different. And while I have the same "going to exercise regularly" resolutions as everyone else, most of my goals are centered on expanding the various aspects of my business and finding more ways to give back. While cre8ive Industries has always donated items to help with various causes and fundraisers, there is so much more that can be done. It is this that tops my resolution list. In December, I received a fun bit of news... one of my designs, the I'm the Baby Daddy tshirt , is being featured on Amazon. It's a design that I created for my Cafepress store, mostly out of a sarcastic state as the term Baby Daddy first started getting popular. My intention ...

Black Friday and Cyber Monday fun!

Image
Thanksgiving is the time that we reflect on all that we are thankful for, and I've got so much to be thankful for this past year. I have a healthy and happy family, fantastic friends and a supportive community. This year, I have to add, having the opportunity to expand my creative business to that list. The past several months have seen many additions to both Etsy stores and Zazzle, several new cakes, the revival of this blog as well as branching out into the world of stock photography. I am excited to see where it all goes in 2011. But before we jump ahead to a new year, we can't forget that the holidays are still before us, along with shopping, shopping, shopping. Black Friday, and more recently Cyber Monday, are two of my favorite days. Like everyone else, I'm drawn to the great deals but I also love the bustle of the holiday season. I absolutely adore finding little gifts that will speak to the person I'm shopping for... send some magic their way. That means even ...

The holidays are nearly here!!

My how time flies. With school in session, the creativity hasn't ceased but the time to write about it seems to always disappear quickly. In September, I made a Toy Story cake. October brought several new cupcake flavors and a lot of organizing. The rest of the fall has been  focused enjoying the time of year with Halloween and football games and creating a good array of crafts for the upcoming holiday season.

It's almost time for school to start!

School is right around the corner for my kiddos. It seems like summer just started. And if you live in the Pac NW that is literal with regards to the weather as well. But the sun is finally out and we have a few more weeks to laze away in the mornings until the alarm clock has to be reinstated and the backpacks stuffed with supplies. This is Braden's senior year. Bittersweet... but focusing on the sweet is the game plan. One of the best things about it is that I get to take his senior pictures. He was always a cute kid (said his mother), but he's grown into an extremely handsome man. I'm very proud of him.
